Cartoon of the Week: Twitter allows remote work 'forever’

Twitter was one of the first companies that allowed employees to work from home on account of Covid-19. Now it won’t be one of the first to return to its offices.
“We were uniquely positioned to respond quickly and allow folks to work from home given our emphasis on decentralization and supporting a distributed workforce capable of working from anywhere,” the company said in a blogpost.
Twitter, work from home
The remote work experience has shown that it can work at scale and employees have proven that they were able to work from home and still be as engaged as before the pandemic struck. In order to create an ideal work-from-home environment, the company gave its employees allowances to buy home office supplies and desk chairs.
Twitter is planning to open its offices in September at the earliest and will allow those who prefer to work from home to do so “forever,” CEO Jack Dorsey said in a company-wide email Tuesday.
The blue bird company is not the only tech company that’s experimenting with the remote work experience. Both Google and Facebook have extended their work-from-home policies into 2021 and Amazon until at least early October.
These decisions have proved how some measures implemented to deal with a pandemic could lead to a new normal for the corporate world.
Can we say that the coronavirus crisis has started a remote work revolution? Will going to the office be a thing of the past?
